"Playful Ways of Seeing"

Maynard is one of the owners of Placewares+LyndonDesign, with his wife Lu. This last year he has returned to painting and the devising and making of one-of-a-kind objects.  This new exhibit features a series of recent pieces, including paintings and unique small "looking boxes".  Using 6" x 6" x 2" bamboo boxes, Maynard has created unique and highly whimsical three-dimensional objects incorporating his own photographs taken over the years during their travels to various parts of the world.  Cutting out openings in the front layer, Maynard reveals a new inside space filled with images which are often incongruous; these juxtapositions create imaginary places which amuse and delight.
