"Color Fields" Tina Beebe.
Fascination with color has driven Tina's educational and professional life. An art major at Smith College, she went on to receive an MFA from Yale where she studied color theory with Joseph Albers and his disciples. In college she met architects Charles Moore and Bill Turnbull and worked with them at The Sea Ranch in the late 1960s through the 1980s. In the late 70s she also worked in the Office of Charles and Ray Eames, focussing on exhibitions, films and graphics. Tina has been an integral part of the architectural firm Moore Ruble Yudell for the past 25 years as resident colorist, working on projects throughout the US, Scandinavia and Japan. Her fresh paintings in our gallery represent distillations and reflections of her road trips up Highway One. This work balances the abstract and pictorial, sensual and structural, always drawing on her lifelong love of pure color.
