CHR 1000 :: Design Research book

In 1953 Benjamin Thompson opened a little store in Cambridge, MA. Calling it Design Research (D/R), he developed a collection of products for all the rooms of the house and created a following for simple, easy designs that have endured for decades.  His widow, Jane Thompson, has published a book to document this remarkable enterprise, which was recently reviewed in the NY Times Style Magazine http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/09/29/one-stop-living/

Pilar Valadas wrote a terrific review of the book which expresses our sentiments exactly when she says, "D/R, as it was known, closed in 1978, but many people, including me, never got over it."
