Armchair 402

Size Guide

Slightly Tilted. Still Upright.

Armchair 402 is a masterpiece of modernist furniture design, first presented by Alvar Aalto at the Milan Triennale in 1933. The frame cantilevers a cushioned seat, providing modern and comfortable seating. The slightly tilted back of Armchair 402 allows for gentle relaxation while still remaining in an upright position. Since wood changes over time, the armrests are formed from a single piece that is then split in half, ensuring that as the chair ages, it remains perfectly balanced. Both armrests are cut from the same piece of form-bent birch lamella, ensuring an even warping over time

Frame: Form-bent solid birch lamella

Seat and back versions: Solid birch and birch plywood, Fabric upholstery with steel springs and PU foam and polyester padding, Leather upholstery with steel springs and PU foam and polyester padding
