    Porcelain Enamel Single-Handle Colander

Heirloom Quality to Last a Lifetime

    Just like Grandma's

Our colander remains ready for daily use in our prep bowls and colander cabinet. We sometimes wonder why we even bother putting it away in the cabinet, since we use it nearly every day.

It is also an item that we are happy to use, as it brings back good memories of our Grandma's farm kitchen where her enameled colanders were summertime-long kitchen counter fixtures prepping produce harvested from her large kitchen and cutting gardens.

Our single-handled colander is a classic, timeless large kitchen colander with flower-shaped holes for rapid drainage. Its long handle and rim hook make it easy to affix the colander to a pot or bowl to help drain, reserve, and then use liquids. It has a rolled rim.

    Ideally suited for safe prep

Enamel prevents bacteria growth and is resistant to fruit acid, so it is ideally suited to the kitchen. Enamel is made from iron fused with glass at high temperatures. The non-porous, smooth, cut and scratch-resistant glass surface guarantees perfect hygiene. Enamel dishes are recommended for those allergic to nickel.

Scratch resistant. Prevents bacteria growth and is aroma neutral.

    The Maker

This maker is a family-owned pan-forge business that has been in the same family for nine generations.  Founded in the 1500s in Austria, today it is known for its top-quality enamelware, made in its carbon-neutral facility using locally-generated hydropower.

Each enameled item is made using a 40-step handmade process. Iron is pressed and stamped, dipped in porcelain enamel, dried, and fired at 1562°F/850°C to be glass-fused. The result is an heirloom quality, long-lasting product: heat resistant up to 842°F/450°C, non-reactive, anti-bacterial,  and cut and scratch resistant.

Rest assured each porcelain enamel is all-natural, including the metal oxides used in the dyes. Each item is fully metal-recyclable.
