    Icons Collection

    Legends of Design

Our Icons collection features timeless lines and sculptural artistry in rattan and wicker inspired by an outstanding group of legendary Danish furniture designers. Ditzel, Boesen, Wengler, and Jacobsen. Each pioneered masterful innovation in rattan and wicker, elevating global standards for design. Today's licensed production worked closely with the designers' direct descendants to ensure that every piece in the collection authentically honors each icon's legacy.

    Sustainably Made

The sustainable production of the Icons collection is something we particularly support. In recent years, rattan has experienced a growing revival. This growth is playing an integral part in the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and "going green" awareness.

    Handcraft

Placewares enthusiastically supports handcraft. Our Icons collection is made in Indonesia, where wickerwork is tradition-bound craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation. The harvest is done by hand, using only a few machines in the process. The rattan stems only need to be steamed for 10-15 minutes before they can be formed and weaved by the skillful makers.
